MAJOR GENERAL
SARBJIT SINGH PAWAR,VSM
1. Major General Sarbjit Singh Pawar, VSM is an Infantry Officer and was commissioned into JAT Regiment on 31st March, 1972 as a product of National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy.
2. His academic qualification include Master of Science (Defence Studies) from Madras University, Master of Management Studies from Osmania University, Hyderabad and has qualified on the Senior International Defence Management Course, California, USA.
3. Having served in mountains, glaciers, deserts and semi arid areas, he has vast experience of operations in active areas of the borders. He has held important and coveted command and staff appointments at all levels of the Army.
4. General Pawar has had long and varied experience as Instructor at various training institutes of the Army. He has specialized in Human Resource Development, Financial Management and Training through programmes and work assignments in India, USA, Botswana and Bhutan.
5. He is amongst the very few officers of the Indian Army to have been selected by very stringent and high level screening committees for two foreign tenures:-
- Office Commanding and Senior instructor of Wangchuk Lodzong
Military School,Bhutan, as part of the Indian Military Training
Team, Bhutan.
- Commandant and Team leader, Indian Army Training Team,
Botswana (Africa), conducting training of the entire Botswana
Defence Force. He established a new Defence Services Staff
College for the Botswana Defence Force as an elite Training
Institution.
6. He had two tenures as the Directing Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, a premier institute which trains selected Indian Army Officers and foreign student officers from more than 35 countries.
7. General Pawar has been involved in Sports, as a sportsman of repute in the Indian Army, in the management & training of various sports teams and in developing sports facilities & infrastructure for the promotion of the sports.
8. He has had a multinational exposure as he has widely travelled in countries abroad i.e. USA, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, UAE, Bhutan and Myanmar.
9. General Pawar is married to Mrs. Harpreet Pawar and they have two daughters. Their daughters are married, working and settled in USA alongwith their husbands.
10. General Pawar was awarded
VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL by the President of India for distinguished
service of exceptional order on the Republic Day, 2010.
